Cause

One young Quebecer in 5 suffers from autism, schizophrenia or intellectual disabilities. Your donations can help discover what causes these serious disorders.

The Young Leaders Circle is committed to continuing our support for the young patients at Sainte-Justine. Our target from 2012 to 2014 is $2.1 million, which we hope will finance Dr. Guy Rouleau’s new research laboratories on brain-related diseases.

Dr. Rouleau is an internationally renowned researcher who is credited with major discoveries in identifying many of the genes responsible for neurological and psychiatric diseases.

The purpose of these new laboratory facilities will be to allow this team of experienced researchers to work on discovering the causes of serious problems such as autism, schizophrenia and intellectual disabilities. Their work aims to identify these problems and intervene as early as possible so that every child can achieve their full potential and become a happy and productive adult.

One young Quebecer in 5 suffers from a neurological or brain-related disorder, to a greater or lesser extent. That’s more than all children suffering from heart disease and cancer combined. For families with a child suffering from a neurological disorder, simply being able to diagnose their child’s condition makes it easier to identify possible treatment.
